About Decide Matrix
Why this project?
Decision-making tools tend to live in spreadsheets or expensive software. The weighted decision matrix is one of the most effective frameworks for comparing multiple options objectively, yet few free tools implement it well. This project brings the method into a clean, interactive browser interface with real-time scoring and sensitivity analysis.
What is it?
A weighted decision matrix helps you make structured decisions by:
Listing the options you're choosing between
Defining the criteria that matter (salary, location, growth, etc.)
Weighting each criterion by importance
Scoring each option against every criterion
Calculating weighted totals to surface the best choice
Running sensitivity analysis to see how robust your decision is
It's used by engineers, product managers, and anyone who needs to make a defensible choice between multiple alternatives.
How does it work?
Each option's total score is computed as the sum of (score × weight) across all criteria. Results are normalized so the top option shows 100% and others scale proportionally. Sensitivity analysis temporarily doubles each criterion's weight one at a time to reveal which factors most influence your decision.
How to use it
Add options — type a name and press Enter or click "+ Add"
Add criteria — same process for evaluation dimensions
Set weights — drag the slider above each criterion (1–10)
Score options — click 1–5 buttons in the scoring grid
Read results — ranked bars appear automatically with percentages
Check sensitivity — see how rankings shift if one criterion matters more
Load examples — click the book icon to try pre-built scenarios
