Every home cook has faced the same frustrating problem: you've got a roast in the oven, pasta boiling on the stove, vegetables to chop, and a side dish baking — but somehow nothing finishes at the same time. Professional kitchens solve this with meticulous timing schedules, but home cooks just guess and scramble. This tool brings kitchen-manager thinking to everyone's tablet or phone.
DinnerSync is an interactive cooking timeline coordinator. You add the dishes you want to make, specify how long each takes to prep and cook, and which cooking method (oven, stovetop, counter, microwave) each uses. Then it automatically generates an optimal timeline so everything finishes together. It features a visual Gantt-style timeline with color-coded lanes, quick-add presets for common dishes, and a real-time countdown mode.
The scheduling algorithm sorts dishes by total duration (prep + cook) in descending order and works backwards from your desired serve time. Longer dishes anchor the schedule first, then shorter dishes are packed into available time slots. Each cooking method gets its own lane — oven dishes share the oven lane, stovetop dishes share that lane, while counter tasks (chopping, mixing, assembling) can run in parallel gaps. The visual timeline uses color-coded horizontal bars: a shaded prefix shows prep time, the main bar shows active cooking time.
